I love teaching and believe that it is much easier for people to learn when they can copy or emulate a teacher who does what they teach.  Most of my students love to have me sing with them until they are ready to sing on their own.  Singing comes from the heart, and is often scary for people (a little like being undressed in public).  The goal is to respect that and create an envirment of discovery and fun.  For those who want to be challenged, I am game!  It is a little like cheap therapy, you come to learn to sing or speak and go away feeling lighter and more joyful, along with more skill.

Janine Elf has been teaching for over 25 years and is an award winning performer.  She performed at Carnegie Hall as the soloist for The All Nation Choir at at 17, and sang the National Anthem for a Seattle Mariners game at 15.  When she attended Edmonds Community College, she had many requests to teach music privately.  She has performed in weddings, funerals, local charity events, dinner houses, musical theatre, church worship & childrens music leader, private concerts and co-directed and accompanied a children's choir.  Recently she was awarded 1st place female vocalist for the US World Showcase in Las Vegas Nevada and vocal finalist for Washington State Christian Talent Contest, besides many other awards during her school years.
She and her guitarist/chef husband Andy Elf, perform at local events, write music together and have a regular gig at the Tandem Wine Bar in Bothell.  The couple has two grown daughters Nicholette and Stephanie and their dog Teena.
